As a good predator, predators hunt in positions that offer the best chance of capturing their prey.
In this article we explain where to find predators.
Congested posts are the most favourable for pike fishing.
Submerged woods are choice areas not to be neglected. They are very easy to notice thanks to the branches protruding from the surface. Do not hesitate to cast close by to provoke the attack of a pike in ambush
The edges are also interesting to prospect. You should look for submerged bushes, under foliage and anything that could serve as a hunting post for a pike.
Don't neglect the breaks where they like to hunt.
In ponds, pike particularly appreciate deep areas, whatever the time of year. In warm weather, they come to find oxygen and in cold weather a little heat.
Pike also like to stand near the edges, especially if they are crowded. Do not hesitate to prospect near the banks, under tree branches, near submerged branches, pontoons, etc...
CANAL AND RIVER POSTS
In this type of spotlights, you should look for spots sheltered from the current, such as dead arms and eddies, but also for congested spots such as grass beds, stumps and roots. You can also look for bridge piers, which are prime spots for pike.
PERCH AND BLACK-BASS
Borders are popular places for these fish to find both shelter and food. Dead woods, herbariums or roots should be carefully prospected. Indeed, the small white fish that the predators love (roach, bleak) like to take refuge there.
Herbariums are excellent places to prospect. Do not hesitate to make several attempts.
When temperatures rise, it also becomes possible to fish for these predators on the surface near their posts. The attacks are very impressive and provide a lot of sensations.
The spawning period of black-bass usually coincides with the opening period.
IN THE POND:
The pikeperch enjoys the shallows and banks at night. During the day, prefer the depths and obstacles in the water.
IN LAKE :
Pike-perch like to take refuge in the depths to escape the light. When it comes time to feed, they venture into dead arms, coves, shady banks...
In the canals, the pike perch like to take refuge in the shadows and on the bottom. The banks are also good places to prospect.
ON THE RIVER :
The pike-perch particularly like deep areas, dead woods, meadows and water lilies. You must prospect each of these areas carefully.
The pike-perch spawning period takes place from April to June and it is advisable to wait until the end of this period to start fishing them.
